Zoobilation

On Wednesday we went to Zoobilation with the playgroup. Zoobilation is a members only behind the scenes event that the zoo has once a year. It's a lot of fun because you get to see inside all the displays and they have all kinds of animals out to touch and hold and learn about.



Left to right the kids are: Karisa, Emmory and Chance.

After we picked a direction the kids were able to bounce in a bounce house then we went through the reptile house and after that we fed the giraffes. In the swamp area he was able to hold an opossum. It was pretty neat neither one of us had ever seen one up close before. He climbed up his arm and sat on his shoulder.

Chance's drawing has gotten a lot better recently, it's like he just started caring about what he drew. It seems each time he sits down he draws something new. Here on the magna-doodle we have a guy stuck in a rain storm. Taking his cues from real life as it had been raining for days when he drew this.






















Also, we are still hard at work on our workbook pages and this one taught him how to draw an apple. With no help from me he followed the directions pretty well if I do say so myself. What do you think?

Birth Marks

Today Chance and I started talking about freckles, I have lots but he has very few and skin color, he tans and has a beautiful tan but I burn and so am much more pale. Which led us to a conversation about birth marks. I have one on the left side of my neck that is very similar to Chance's which is on the left side of his head by his temple. He didn't know he had one so I took this picture so he could see it and now all of you can too.

He got a guitar

For months now Chance has been asking for a guitar so when the tax return showed up in the mail the other day getting him one was one of the first things we did.

He picked out the strap he wanted and as soon as we got home Scott showed him how to put it on and they got started.

Chance did a great job listening and practicing. He learned a couple simple things that he has been practicing pretty much non stop. It was hard to get him to go to bed last night.

And first thing this morning he picked up his guitar and started practicing again.

A few days ago we decided to go to the beach. We hadn't really been to the beach since we got here and now that we are heading back to NOLA in May I was thinking we should probably get to the beach at least once. So we got up early and were at the beach by 9am giving us plenty of time to play before it got super hot.

Easter

Man Easter was so long ago and still I am just getting around to posting these pictures but better late than never right? Anyway, Easter was fun because this is the first year Chance had a clear understanding of what to look forward to in the morning when he woke up. Of course all the eggs were hidden and his Easter bucket (he got a beach pail and spade instead of a basket) were waiting for him to find.

The first thing in the morning I heard "wow" and knew it was time to get out of bed.  Chance and I dressed up because even if you aren't going anywhere fancy on Easter it is still a day for dressing up. Then we let him go find his Easter eggs.





He searched all around the house and with only a little Hot and Cold assistance found all the eggs by himself.





He had a good time finding eggs and investigating his Easter bucket.




Here he is wearing his mask and snorkel that he received in his bucket. Later in the day we turned his eggs into deviled eggs and had Easter dinner together. Chance ate way too much candy but then again so did we all because he is great at sharing even when it means giving up some of his candy.  He also had the perfect Easter hair this year. The red had faded out to a nice Easter pink.

Coloring Eggs

We colored eggs this year just a day before Easter so they would be fresh and ready to hide come Easter morning. Chance picked out the egg coloring set himself and he picked one with a motorcycle theme. The colors were mostly the same except there was a grey color which seemed weird until you put those plastic wrap around things on them and then they just looked really cool.


Here he is dunking an egg in a cup of color. Look at him working that tongue. He doesn't do that as much as he used to but he still gets it going when he is concentrating or thinking really hard about something.

Models

This week Scott and Chance have been doing little models, putting them together and painting them. It looks like so much fun. Here are a few pictures of the process.
